The Correlates of War Project is pleased to announce that Paul Poast of the University of Chicago is the new Data Host for COW’s War Data, including Interstate, Intrastate, and Extrastate wars.
His predecessors—in reverse-alphabetical order, Frank Wayman, Meredith Sarkees, and Jeffrey Dixon—are now Data Hosts Emeritus in recognition of their years of work in maintaining and updating COW’s War data, for which the directors and the discipline as a whole are grateful. The War data, especially its coverage of the 19th century, are at the heart of what makes the COW Project special, and their stewardship has kept COW at the forefront of the study of war and peace.
